ACCOMODATIONS
Before reviewing the following information which denotes apartments that have been reserved in advance for SLS Lithuania participants, one should read the following:
Because Lithuania is not a Western European country, is a post-Soviet country, and all apartments located in the old town date back hundreds of years, one cannot expect the same living conditions, amenities, or cultural norms that are presented in Western Countries. That being said, our Lithuania Program Director, who is an American on a Fulbright grant has personally visited the following residences which are available to make sure they meet a comfortable standard.
Below you will find valuable information about the type of residences offered for accommodation:

All apartments are centrally and conveniently located near the premises for our seminars, Vilnius University, one of the oldest Universities in Europe, where the great poet Czeslaw Milosz once went. This being his 100th birthday, we figured it’d be prudent to have our seminars on the same ground where he once studied. Additionally, we’ll be able to accommodate people in hotels and hostels per request. Because we need an exact number of visitors who request this space, and exact dates for their arrival / checkout, we will coordinate with hotels and hostels on a group rate for participants at a later date when we have this information. Apartments are more affordable, spacious, and are more centrally located than many of our hotel / hostel options. This is something to take into consideration.
A Note on Airport Pickups: SLS assistants pick up every participant at the airport, take people to their accommodations, and give them an orientation tour of the immediate area. Assistants also take people to the Institute, (at least in the beginning). No one ever gets lost with the SLS programs -- not at the airport, and not in the city... unless they want to get lost in the city, at some point. Vilnius, especially the central part of it, is an eminently walkable, immensely beautiful city, made for solitary walks through the narrow menadering crooked streets of medieval Old Town.
If you need any help finding accommodations, we'd be pleased to help you. Just contact us.
* Please note: Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops. Bring plug adapters for all your electrical appliances, such as laptop computers, which are available at most electronics stores.
All SLS programs, as described in its publications, brochures and on the website, may be subject to change or cancellation, without prior warning, and neither the Summer Literary Seminars and its employees, affiliates, or agents shall be responsible or liable for any expenses or losses that may be sustained because of these changes or cancellations.
